Wild Edie (9) would seem an unlikely candidate to be an odds-on favorite after losing her last start by 21 3-4 lengths, but the filly is 3-5 with 13 minutes to Saturday's ninth race for $20,000 maiden claimers.
Trained by Bob Hess, Jr., Wild Edie was fourth in a $30,000 claiming race for maidens at 6 1-2 furlongs on Jan. 19. The race was won by Line Drive, who was 17 lengths clear at the wire.
Wild Edie was second in maiden claimers in two starts prior to that and has drawn the outside post in this field of eight. Leading rider Evin Roman has the mount. Her main rival is the first-time starter Go Girl Gone (6), who is trained by Vladimir Cerin and is 4-1.
