Telekinesis, probably the best-looking 2- or 3-year-old debut winner of the ongoing Fair Grounds meet, is set to make his second career start this Friday at Fair Grounds. But to do so, Telekinesis must tackle older first-level allowance rivals in a dirt race over one mile 70 yards that's also open to $17,500 claimers.
Telekinesis is one of seven entrants in Friday's third race and is coupled for wagering purposes with his stable-mate Chaos Theory. Mark Casse, whose Fair Grounds string is overseen by trainer David Carroll, trains Telekinesis, an Ontario-bred son of Ghostzapper and the Street Cry mare, Intentional Cry. Racing six furlongs in his first start, Telekinesis rallied strongly down the outside under Florent Geroux and beat the capable colt Nola Win by more than three lengths. He ran six furlongs in just over 1:10 and got a flashy 90 Beyer Speed Figure for the performance.
Casse and the colt's owner, Stonestreet Farm, want to stretch Telekinesis out in distance but don't want to ship or send their horse into stakes competition just yet, and with no age-restricted allowance races at Fair Grounds that fit the colt's schedule, Telekinesis will be limning up Friday against older horses. Excluding other allowances, Telekinesis gets a seven-pound weight break, 123 to 116, from his elders.
