Apprentice jockey Evin Roman is no longer a teenager.

Roman turned 20 on Sunday. He won the first race on Best of Me ($6.40), the favorite in a seven-runner maiden race.

Roman won the Eclipse Award as the nation's leading apprentice of 2017. He retains an apprentice claim through March 11 and will begin riding as a journeyman on March 15.

Through Sunday's first race, Roman has won 35 races, two more than Flavien Prat.
