A colt from the first crop of Spendthrift Farm's Goldencents took resounding command of the fastest time for a quarter-mile at the OBS March sale, covering the distance in a record-tying 20 1/5 seconds.
The effort equaled the fastest time ever for two furlongs at an OBS breeze show, most recently equaled by a Super Saver colt who hit the mark at last year's March sale before selling for $625,000. Also hitting the mark was Amoral, a Scat Daddy colt who sold for $270,000 at the 2014 OBS June 2-year-olds and horses of racing age sale.
The horses all breezed over the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface.
The Goldencents colt was Hip 567, out of the unraced Unbridled's Song mare Royale Paradise, whose first foal to race is a winner. Bred in Kentucky by Pollock Farms, the colt is from the family of Grade 2 winners Royale Michele and Cagey Exuberance, as well as stakes winners Nimble, Lily La Belle, Killing Me, and Excess Thrilling.
Beryl Stokes Jr. bought the colt for $115,000 at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale. He is consigned at the OBS March sale by Hoby and Layna Kight, agent.
