AMERICAN GURU gave leading jockey Luis Saez his 3rd winner already today when gliding past odds-on TEAK to kick off the Rainbow 6 sequence (races 5-10). The winner, a first-time-starting 4yo Unbridled's Song colt, returned $11.20 for owner-breeder Frank Stronach and trainer Jimmy Jerkens.
New handle into the Rainbow 6 was $406,870 in pursuit of a rollover jackpot that ticked past the $3.2 million mark yesterday.
Gulfstream spokesman Dave Joseph said earlier today the track most likely will hold a dispersal of the jackpot on Florida Derby Day, March 31, although that isn't set in stone. The last dispersal was held Jan. 28, the day after the Pegasus World Cup, with nearly $20 million paid out. The jackpot has not been emptied by a solo winner since.
