Champion Forever Unbridled has been on a Friday work pattern preparing for the $10 million Dubai World Cup on March 31, but trainer Dallas Stewart moved the mare's breeze day up to Thursday and Forever Unbridled went five furlongs in 59.60. There's rain in the Friday forecast in New Orleans, but Stewart told Fair Grounds publicity it was his horse's behavior that spurred him to work her Thursday.
"I moved it up because she’s just been doing great," Stewart said. "She’s been tearing the barn down, bucking and kicking in the afternoons. We just moved her up so she can have an extra day of galloping here. It was a great work, just like she’s been going. She stepped out nicely the last quarter.”
The work was timed in fractions of 12.40, 22.40, 36.60, and 48.20, with a gallope-out of six furlongs in 1:12.60.
Forever Unbridled, whose most recent start produced a victory in the Breeders' Cup Distaff, will be bidding to become the first female Dubai World Cup winner. She's scheduled to ship to Florida on March 19, with the American horses traveling to race in Dubai leaving Florida on March 20 and arriving in Dubai on March 21. Stewart said he would consider giving Forever Unbridled a half-mile work over the Meydan Racecourse dirt surface.
