Mare sustains catastrophic injury; euthanized

Cleopatra's Gold, who was pulled up at the top of the stretch in the seventh race Thursday at Oaklawn, sustained a catastrophic injury and had to be euthanized, according to the stewards. Her rider, Channing Hill, was not injured. 

Cleopatra's Gold fractured her right front cannon bone, according to the stewards. The race was a $32,000 claiming sprint for fillies and mares.

Cleopatra's Gold was a winner of four races from 14 starts and earned $71,938. She was a 5-year-old daughter of Mineshaft.
