American Lincoln scores by 18 3-4 lengths in opener

American Lincoln ($8.10), despite causing problems leaving the starting gate, just rolled by 18 3-4 lengths in the opener under Junior Alvarado for trainer Linda Rice.

American Lincoln took a right-hand turn out of the gate, bumped with Freeze the Account, who stumbled badly and subsequently carried out Tilt, the 7-5 favorite.

No matter, American Lincoln got a perfect stalking trip thereafter and just sped away from his four rivals. Sped might be too strong as he covered the 1 1-8 miles in 1:56.79.

Tilt, who looked like he wanted to fall down in the stretch, held on for second in this less-than-stellar group.

Rice has now moved within one win of Rudy Rodriguez for leading trainer at the winter meet which has 8 days (including today) remaining.
