Short field, big price.
King Kranz, the 5-1 longest shot in five-horse field of four betting interests, makes first start since May 11 a winning one, going gate to wire under Paco Lopez and holding off Very Very Stella by a nose to kick off AQU pick-6 with $80,780 new money in pool on top of $27,309 carryover.
King Kranz, a multiple listed stakes winner when in the barn of John Terranova, was making his first start for Rudy Rodriguez, who was given the horse by Zayat Stables. King Kranz ran six furlongs in 1:12.56 and returned $12.60 to win.
Rodriguez now is back on top in the trainer's race with 29 wins, one more than Linda Rice who has already won two races on today's card.
