Camelot Kitten ($12.80), a multiple graded winner a couple years ago in 2016 on turf, picked up his stakes win since in prevailing by a half-length over Chip Leader in the $100,000 Kentucky Cup Classic on the Jeff Ruby Stakes undercard at Turfway Park.
After settling in midpack, he advanced quickly to pull on even terms with speedster Chip Leader at the head of the lane and gradually wore down that rival. Rafael Hernandez was aboard for trainer Mike Maker, and owners Ken and Sarah Ramsey.
He ran quickly, completing 1 1/8 miles on Polytrack in 1:49.76.
Fast and Accurate, who won the Jeff Ruby last year when it was called the Spiral, ran third.
Favored Royal Son finishing a nonthreatening fourth, never seemingly comfortable on the inside while surprisingly racing from well off the early pace.
