I've been waiting for SANDY'S SURPRISE (5) to return to the races, and today is the day. The Azeri is a very competitive race, but I think there's reason to believe Sandy's Surprise will run better than her odds suggest. In the Houston Ladies' Classic, Sandy's Surprise was the first to make a move turning for home - a race where ultimately the last move was the winning move. Two starts back, this Doug O'Neill trainee raced very wide in the La Canada on a day at Santa Anita where inside did very well.
It's entirely possible that she's not as talented as the other fillies and mares in the Azeri, but I think she's very live today at a great price. She's currently 9-1 with 8 MTP.
