Noble Indy and Lone Sailor, separated by a neck at the end of the Louisiana Derby on Saturday at Fair Grounds, both emerged from the race in good condition, their trainers said Sunday morning, and both will make their next start in the Kentucky Derby on May 5; neither will squeeze in another prep over the next six weeks.
Noble Indy was scheduled to return to Florida on Monday and join trainer Todd Pletcher's base at the Palm Beach Downs training center. He got a Beyer Speed Figure of 95 for his win on Saturday.
Lone Sailor, based here at Fair Grounds this winter, will head straight to Kentucky when trainer Tom Amoss leaves Fair Grounds when this meet ends next weekend.
Amoss celebrated his Louisiana Derby runner-up finish, and his Fair Grounds Oaks victory, at the terrific Uptown restaurant Clancy's on Saturday night. But he was only the second most-famous person there. He was nosed out by Jon Bon Jovi.
