Imperial Hint, making his first start since finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Sprint, couldn't have been any more impressive off the bench, absolutely cruising to a one-sided victory in what was little more than a paid working in the $100,000 Tampa Bay Sprint. Confidently ridden throughout by Javier Castellano, Imperial Hint was being eased to the wire while five lengths in front of runner-up Deland, the Puerto Rican invader, who raced wide and was easily best of the rest. Delta Bluesman, the early pacesetter, tired to be third with Mo Cash a disappointing fourth despite a rail skimming trip. Imperial Hint, the 1/5 favorite, is trained by Luis Carvajal Jr. for owner Raymond Mamono.
