Oaklawn Park has been hosting the 2018 Track Superintendent Field Day since Sunday, and sessions on the agenda for Tuesday afternoon include a panel of jockeys led by Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens.
Stevens will be joined by Alex Birzer and Channing Hill for the hour long discussion related to racing surfaces. David Longinotti, director of racing for Oaklawn, said there are visitors from around the world taking part in the convention.
Other panels include veterinarian-led discussions on Thoroughbred and Standardbred injuries, and "Racetrack Geometry" with Dr. Mick Peterson. Another session concerns new turf courses.
There also will be a 'Track Supers Trivia' roundtable later Tuesday. The infield Monday showcased tractors and other machinery of interest to track maintenance efforts, while many superintendents checked out training at Oaklawn on both Monday at Tuesday.
A history of Oaklawn was given during the first full day of events Monday.
