Apprentice jockey Franklin Ceballos is having a flashy first season in California. 

Ceballos, who arrived earlier this year, has won 12 races from 62 mounts, good enough to be tied with Rajiv Maragh for 14th in the jockey standings. Ceballos has the fewest mounts among the top 18 jockeys at the meeting.

Evin Roman leads all riders with 44 wins.

The winter-spring meeting runs through April 8, and there is an outside chance Ceballos could find his way into the bottom of the top 10.

Ceballos, 18, relocated from Maryland.
