Tais Lyapustina scored her 1st professional win in 3rd race at Laurel Park on Friday by guiding Esken Lady to a $33.40 victory for trainer Jose Corrales.
Lyapustina won an amateur riders' race at Laurel in November 2014. She is now 2 for 61.
According to track Laurel racing analyst Stan Salter, Lyapustina was brought to the U.S. from Russia as a child and grew up near Bowie, Md.
She received a water-bucket dousing at the jockeys' room following her win.
