Laurel: Impressive debut victory for 3-year-old Moonlight Shadow

Moonlight Shadow turned in an eye-catching debut win in the fifth race at Laurel Park on Friday, closing smartly to win going away by two lengths.

A half-brother to Phlash Phelps, a four time stakes winner on turf, and De Francis Memorial and Maryland Sprint winner Action Andy, Moonlight Shadow closed stoutly in the stretch of the six-furlong race to win going away.

The race was timed in 1:12.30, with a final furlong in 12.83 seconds. Moonlight Shadow made up maybe 3 1/2 lengths during that time.

Moonlight Shadow, who is trained by Rodney Jenkins, paid $20. Cowboy Steve Hamilton was aboard.
