To follow up on a note I posted earlier about maybe the inside not being the place to be on the main track today at Gulfstream, there is clearly nothing wrong with the inside, as Conquest Big E just demonstrated in his front-running upset of the Gulfstream Park Mile. Conquest Big E was on the rail the length of the backstretch and on the far turn, and the three path through the stretch. The main track seems bias-free.
As far as the GP Mile's runner up, 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, he had every chance to win and simply wasn't good enough. In fairness, this was Always Dreaming's first since he stopped in the Travers, but he must do a lot better than this if he is to be a player in the older dirt male division this year.
