Rainbow 6 starts with 14-1 shot; total pool = $21 million+

OUTBACK BOB (14-1) kicked off the huge Rainbow 6 "forceout" by winning the first leg of the sequence (races 9-14). Outback Bob (No. 3), exiting a maiden claiming race in his lone prior start, won the MSW turf race with Jose Ortiz up for trainer Ralph Nicks. The full race-9 order was 3-5-7-11-2.

New bets today were a whopping $16,583,425, in addition to the $4.75 million already accrued over the previous 40 racing days in the Rainbow 6 jackpot. That means more than $21 million will be paid out (before today's takeout on the new money), regardless of the number of winning tickets.

The new handle exceeded the prior track record set Jan. 28, when $15,788,225 was added to a carryover jackpot of nearly $4 million.

We'll keep you posted on the Rainbow 6 through its conclusion with the Florida Derby (race 14, post 6:36 ET).
