It didn't look good for King Humor, the 1-5 favorite, at the top of the stretch, but jockey Edgar Perez persevered on him through the lane to run down the pace-setting Reed Kan (13-1) to win his first-level allowance condition.
King Humor ran six furlongs in 1:11.09.
Trainer Victor Barboza Jr. said that he was hoping to use this race as a prep for the $75,000 Roar Stakes here on April 21.
King Humor had caught people's attention with his 5 1-2-furlong debut on Feb. 2 for which he earned a 96 Beyer Speed Figure.
Meanwhile, trainer Jason Servis claimed Reed Kan for $75,000 on behalf of onwer Michael Dubb.
