Solomini and Restoring Hope worked five furlongs in company on Monday morning at Santa Anita in preparation for upcoming starts in major 3-year-old races.
Both were timed in 59.80 seconds, but Restoring Hope was going along the easier of the two and actually was designated as breezing by the clockers.
Flavien Prat was on Restoring Hope, with Martin Garcia on Solomini.
Restoring Hope will run in the Wood Memorial this Saturday at Aqueduct, while Solomini, according to a tweet from co-owner Justin Zayat, goes to the Arkansas Derby. Prat rides both.
The Arkansas Derby was the intended start for Justify, but with him running in the Santa Anita Derby the chess pieces were moved.
Solomini has yet to win a Grade 1 and ran a good race in the Rebel last time out in his first start at 3, so the Arkansas Derby seems like a good spot for him. Plus it gives him another week. He just ran on March 17.
Restoring Hope worked like a horse who's ready to go right now. He was intended for the Sunland Derby but did not get in. He has not run since Feb. 2.
