Malibu Max ($14.60) upset even-money favorite Thirstforlife in Thursday's eighth race at Oaklawn, an optional $65,000 claiming race at a mile. Jareth Loveberry was aboard Malibu Max for trainer Mac Robertson. 

The winner covered the distance on a track labeled "wet-fast" in a sharp 1:37.55. The race ended at the sixteenth pole. 

Malibu Max had one horse beat early as Thirstforlife contested the pace between horses.
