Conditions will be tolerable here today, even if unseasonably chilly, for the 10-race opener of the 16-day Keeneland spring meet. High of 60, no rain, fast and yielding.

The Snow-maggedon that is supposed to develop overnight and make for poor conditions for the huge Saturday card may or may not happen; it's a fluid situation, as they say, and everyone is anxious about its consequences. Last I heard is there'll be snow, but not a whole lot of it; we'll be on top of it as much as you can be.

In anticipation of the overnight storm, Keeneland already has announced that its Trackside Sunrise program has been cancelled for tomorrow morning, while The Hill, the popular tailgating area, will be closed Saturday. In addition, entrance gates will not open tomorrow until noon ET (as opposed to the usual 11), with the first race set for 1:05.

The traditional opening-day feature, the G3 Transylvania (R9), has held together so far with a full field of 12 3yos, although trainer Mark Casse has said he intends to scratch DETERMINANT in favor of having him draw in off the AEs into the Blue Grass tomorrow. (As of 9 a.m. ET, that SCR has yet to happen.) The M/L favorite for the Transy is ANALYZE IT at 7-5, but surely he'll be odds-on, with MARAUD a strong second choice in the 3-1 range and probably all the others double-digits.

Here are the early SCR as of 9 ET: R1-(1A, 5, 7); R3-(1, 10); R4-(2); R6-(13, 14); R9-(6).

A reminder that the wagering menu has been switched up for the opening races each day, with a pick-5 now starting on R1 and a pick-4 on R2.

Also, advance wagering is available today on most platforms, including here at the track, for all 11 races Saturday.
