Todd Pletcher's four Kentucky Derby starters -- Audible, Magnum Moon, Noble Indy, and Vino Rosso -- all had easy walk days Sunday. As per Pletcher's typical schedule, the quartet was out on the track Saturday following their final Derby works Friday, with all four visiting the starting gate, Vino Rosso and Magnum Moon jogging, and Audible and Noble Indy going through an easy gallop. All being well, the horses will return to galloping on Monday.
Meanwhile, in Ireland, Mendelssohn, the smashing winner of the United Arab Emirates Derby on March 31 in Dubai, is readying for his ship to Kentucky. Mendelssohn trains with Aidan O'Brien at famed Ballydoyle, a private training yard, and O'Brien was coy when asked Thursday when exactly Mendelssohn would have his final major exercise for the Derby. Whatever exactly that exercise might have been, it took place either today, Saturday, or Friday, and what is known is that Mendelssohn will board a plane Monday afternoon Ireland time and arrive at Churchill later in the day. Mendelssohn won't make an appearance during training hours at Churchill until Thursday.
