Always on the pace under Ricardo Santana Jr., MIA MISCHIEF put away AMY'S CHALLENGE before edging clear Friday in the first stakes on the Kentucky Oaks card, the Grade 2, $200,000 Eight Belles.
Mia Mischief, an Into Mischief filly owned by a three-way partnership, returned $5 as favorite in a field of seven 3-year-old fillies. She finished about two lengths before TALK VEUVE TO ME, with GAS STATION SUSHI, the 5-2 second choice, another couple of lengths back in third.
Mia Mischief, trained by Steve Asmussen, finished seven furlongs in 1:21.84 over a fast track.
The $2 exacta (3-5) paid $21.80, the $1 trifecta (3-5-6) returned $34.40, and the $1 superfecta (3-5-6-4) was worth $158.60.
David Grening will have the full Eight Belles recap up before long on www.drf.com
