Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen will enter Saturday with 7,999 Thoroughbred training wins in North America.
He won three races Friday, including the Eight Belles at Churchill Downs. Asmussen also had a training double at Lone Star Park.
His first starter Saturday comes in the Churchill opener on Kentucky Derby Day. Asmussen will saddle wire to wire threat Share the Upside.
Asmussen ranks second in all-time trainer wins in North America, behind the late Dale Baird.
