Six Pack Gal recorded an impressive win in her debut in Thursday's third race for 2-year-olds California-bred maiden fillies, leaving trainer Mike Machowsky to consider a trip to Belmont Park for the $150,000 Astoria Stakes at 5 1-2 furlongs on June 7.
There are no stakes for 2-year-old fillies in Southern California until the CTBA Stakes for state-breds on Aug. 1.
Six Pack Gal ($6) ran 4 1-2 furlongs in 53.38 seconds, leading throughout to win by 3 1-2 lengths over 19-1 Rolinga. Settle It, the 4-5 favorite, had a rough outing.
Settle It struck the gate before the start and was unloaded and given a brief veterinary exam. She was pronounced fit to race, but could not keep pace with the leaders after the start. She finished fifth.
