Through the first five races on this sloppy Preakness Day card, horses who are on or near the lead have been your winners. The fields have been short (fields of 6,4,7,5 and 6 so far) and the largest-priced winner has been Forge at $6.20 in race 3.

A couple of races have had contested paces but all of the winners have persevered on to victory with few horses making up much ground in the stretch.

Tap Daddy, in the off-the-turf Murphy, shrugged off California Night and splashed to a relatively easy victory.
