Comparing 3-year-olds and older horses this time of year in specialty divisions like turf or sprinters is often courting trouble. But man, it's hard to think Mitole isn't one of the best sprinters in the country off his smashing score just now in the Chick Lang at Pimlico, even if it was over fellow 3-year-olds.
Mitole, who won his previous two starts by seven and nine lengths, and who banked a Beyer Figure of 107 when he won the Bachelor most recently, won laughing again - by many lengths, and without really being asked.
Mitole's final time for the six furlongs of 1:09.29 looks pretty strong, too. The streaking New York shipper and older horse Forge won earlier in the card with six furlongs in 1:09.93, and Forge notched a triple-digit Beyer two starts back.
