Ultra Brat continued the string of short-priced winners at Pimlico on Saturday, winning the Grade 3, $150,000 Gallorette by 10 1/4 lengths as the 8-5 second choice in the six-horse field.
Prior to Ultra Brat’s race 9 victory, five favorites and three second choices had won. The biggest win payout of the day was Forge ($6.20) in race 3.
Ultra Brat paid $5.40 and was timed over soft turf in the 1 1/16-mle race in 1:53.72.
Ultra Brat stalked 6-1 Stallion Heiress early before taking command on the far turn. Blessed Silence finished second, three-quarters of a length ahead of Brooks House. It was another three-quarters of a length back to 6-5 favorite Elysea’s World in fourth.
Ultra Brat is trained by Graham Motion and was ridden by Jose Ortiz.
The Gallorette was the only one of six turf races carded Saturday to stay on the grass. The other five were moved to the main track due to the soft course condition.
