Jockey Tyler Baze was taken from the racetrack on a stretcher after his mount, Fast Munny, fell nearing the finish of the sixth race.
Fast Munny was racing at the back of a field in an allowance race with a $40,000 claiming option when he fell suddenly. Baze was thrown clear of the 5-year-old gelding but fell heavily. He received attention from medical personnel who secured his neck before placing the rider in the back of an ambulance. Baze was being transported to a local hospital.
Fast Munny died of an apparent heart attack, veterinary officials told the stewards.
Fast Munny was making his second start of the year, having finished fifth in a similar race on April 7 in his first start since a win in a maiden race in February 2016.
