The way things were going for the John Toscano Jr. barn, it seemed inevitable that Shiraz was going to catch Ethan Hunt at the wire of this allowance turf race.
But perhaps the work is beginning to turn for Toscano as the front-running Ethan Hunt ($14.20) won the bob at the wire to beat Shiraz by a nose and snap an 0 for 29 start to the Belmont spring/summer meet.
Luis Saez rode the winner, his second on the card.
Heading into the last race, only #s 10 and 11 are alive in the pick-6. Otherwise we'll have a carryover of $21,602 into Saturday's 10-race card.
