Playwright, dropping into a $25,000 maiden claimer after running fifth in maiden special weight company last month at Aqueduct, galloped to a 13 3-4-length victory as your 2-5 fave in Saturday's opener.

Playwright had won at Aqueduct in December for maiden $40,000 but was disqualified from first for an overage of Bute.

Kendrick Carmouche rode the winner, who dueled on the lead with There Goes Jose for about three furlongs before that one backed up. Danny Gargan trains for Morris Bailey.

Dublin Leprechaun picked up the pieces for second.
