Itsinthepost won the seventh stakes of his career in the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes on Saturday. The durable gelding is becoming a fan favorite at SAnta Anita for his consistency. This has truly been a remarkable career, one expected to continue this summer at Del Mar.

Julien Leparoux rode Itsinthepost for the first time in the Whittingham, a replacement for Tyler Baze, who is off this week because of soreness from a spill on May 19. Leparoux is the fourth jockey to ride Itsinthepost in the 30 races of his American career. Baze has ridden Itsinthepost in 26 of those races.

Itsinthepost was winless in 10 starts for now-retired trainer Darrell Vienna in 2015 and early 2016. Since joining trainer Jeff Mullins, Itsinthepost has won 9 of 20 starts.

Itsinthepost has won seven stakes, all in the last 14 months and all Grade 2 races - two runnings of the San Luis Rey, the 2017 Elkhorn at Keeneland, the John Henry Turf Championship last fall, and the San Gabriel and San Marcos Stakes earlier this year before Saturday's win.

He was seventh in the Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar last November, finishing 5 1-4 lengths behind Talismanic.

Itsinthepost has earned $505,000 and is nearing his 2017 earnings of $573,000, his best year.
