Ready for Rye, favored by $306 over Weekend Hideaway, as both were sent off at 6-5, dueled outside of Weekend Hideaway early, put that one away turning for home and eventually beat a somewhat resurgent Weekend Hideaway by about 2 1-2 lengths in this off-the-turf six-furlong allowance race run over a sloppy track.
It was the first win for Ready for Rye since he captured an allowace race in the mud here last June here. He is now 4-1-0 from five starts in the mud. Javier Castellano ride the winner for Tom Albertrani. He ran six furlongs in 1:10.26.
Much respect for Weekend Hideaway, who was making his 46th career starts, but the 8-year-old NY-bred has certainly lost a little off his fastball. And, obviously, he will be scratched from tomorrow's Commentator Stakes for NY-breds, a race he had won the previous two years.
Order of finish: 7-2-5-4
