Ther are 3 scratches on the 7-race card that begins at 1:50 p.m. Pacific.
Race 2: (6) Second Solo
Race 4: (6) Proud and Loud
Race 5: (7) Dreamin of Peace
No stakes but good competive races headed by a first-level allowance race for 3-year-olds. The 6 1/2 furlong dash goes as the last race.
Looking forward to watching the first 2-year-old race at the meet in the 4th race. Quite a few of the 9 horses that will start have shown a lot of potential in the mornings. (8) Numaany's Reward has impressed the local clockers and appears to have a bright future. The race is 3 1/2 furlongs so a lot depends on the start.
Also of interest is how (11) Apalachee Bay will run in a maiden speical race in the 6th race. He ran well in his first two starts on Tapeta at Golden Gate Fields and considering he is the first foal out of a Grade 3 winning mare who won 9 races sprinting on dirt he could thrive on the local surface. He was also very impressive working a half-mile here May 17.
He might be good enough to overcome breaking from a tough post.
The track is fast.
