Special Purpose (7) has the credentials to win her American debut in Sunday's $75,000 Black Pearl Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the hillside turf course.
Last year in England, Special Purpose won twice and was third in the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes at six furlongs at Salisbury Racecourse.
Special Purpose is the only filly with success in graded or group stakes in the Black Pearl Stakes. Special Purpose is the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the Black Pearl Stakes, but she has a disadvantage in not having raced since mid-October and racing on the hillside for the first time.
This could give Ahimsa (2) and Sappho (5) an edge.
Ahimsa was the sharp winner of an allowance race with a $75,000 claiming option on the hillside turf course on April 27 in her debut on turf. Sappho was a game second on the hillside last October in her American debut, experience that will be valuable on Sunday.
The Black Pearl Stakes drew a field of seven.
