Apprentice jockey Heriberto Figueroa was unseated from Candy Crew shortly after the start of Friday's first race when the rider appeared to lose a stirrup.
Figueroa had Candy Crew on the lead of a six-furlong race for $50,000 claimers when he slipped off the left side of the 3-year-old colt. Fortunately, there were no horses racing directly behind Figueroa in the field of six.
Figueroa was on the ground for less than a minute before he rose under his own power and was taken to first aid in an ambulance. His next mount is Kentan Road (8) in the fourth race.
At the spring-summer meeting, Figueroa has won six races from 31 mounts and is tied for 14th in the standings. Figueroa won his first race at Gulfstream Park in March and claims seven pounds. He won his first race at Santa Anita on May 4.
