Saratoga Colonel, the 9-5 fave, was five lengths off the pace early, hooked Joe's Smokin Gun in midstretch and outlasted that one to take the finale under Jose Ortiz, who picked up his third win on the card. George Weaver trained the winner.

The win by Saratoga Colonel created two winners of the late pick-5, each ticket worth $18,017.

There will be a pick-6 carryover of $14,872 into Saturday's card where first post will be 1:30 p.m.
