Proctor's Ledge, who is expected to chase her first Grade 1 tally in the Just a Game on the Belmont undercard, turned in her final piece of serious work Saturday morning at Keeneland, going a half in 50.40 seconds on the turf.
The filly, coming off a victory in the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile on the Kentucky Derby undercard, worked in company with the maiden 3-year-old colt Red Right Hand, who finished up in the same time. Proctor's Ledge is also nominated to the Grade 2 New York Stakes next Friday at Belmont; however, with a Grade 1 missing from her resume, trainer Brendan Walsh has indicated that she is more likely to run in the Just a Game the following afternoon.
Also nominated to the New York is Ken McPeek's Daddys Lil Darling, who worked five furlongs on the turf in 1:01.60. The filly turned in a fairly significant piece of exercise, galloping a solid distance in to the work.
Trainer Wesley Ward sent out a bevy of turf workers to prepare for their travels to the renowned Royal Ascot meeting later this month, led by European champion Lady Aurelia, who went five furlongs in 1:03.40. The filly will be making her third trip to Royal Ascot and is looking for as many victories there, having taken the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes in her 2016 Cartier Award championship campaign, and last year defeating older males in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes, which she is expected to again contest this year.
