Lone Star Park near Dallas puts the spotlight on the Texas breeding program on Saturday, as the Texas Thoroughbred Association gathers at the track for its annual meeting and awards banquet. The nine-race card led by the $50,000 Lane's End Danny Shifflett Scholarship Stakes for Texas-bred fillies and mares gets underway at 2:35 p.m. Central. The main track is anticipated as fast and the turf, firm.

A few other notes on the card:

*Americium (3), who was scratched from Friday night's Spotted Horse Stakes at Evangeline, goes in Saturday's third race at Lone Star Park. Her rider, Richard Eramia, won four of the eight races on Friday night's card at Lone Star.

*Americium's trainer, Karl Broberg, talks about her ownership, M and M Racing, in the following piece: http://www.drf.com/news/americium-can-give-connections-first-stakes-together-spotted-horse. For more from M and M Racing: http://www.drf.com/news/m-and-m-racing-making-mark-lone-star-belmont

*Shotsoft (7), a full brother to six-time stakes winner Supermason owned by M and M Racing, starts in fourth race Saturday at Lone Star.

*Lullaby Bling (7), who was the co-leading seller at the Texas Thoroughbred Association yearling auction last year at Lone Star at $100,000, makes his debut in the sixth race. He is a Texas-bred full brother to Bling on the Music, a multiple stakes winner at 2.

*Direct Dial (5), who completed a sweep of the Texas Stallion Stakes series with his win in last month's final division at Lone Star, tests turf in the fifth race, an allowance for Texas-breds. His rivals include fellow stakes-winning 3-year-old Galactica (7). For more on how their families have fared on turf, please see the Lone Star analysis in Saturday's editions of Daily Racing Form, or online in the aforementioned entry file.
