Trainer Jimmy Jerkens and his owner, Frank Stronach, have more than one good turf miler in the barn.
American Guru got back to his winning ways, roaring by pace-setting favorite Attribute to take a second-level allowance in which he, according to the timer, ran a mile in 1:32.09. It was his third win from four career starts and likely sets him up for stakes in Saratoga (perhaps the $100,000 Lure on April 4).
Jerkens and Stronach also campaign Delta Prince, last weekend's King Edward winner who is likely headed to the Grade 1 Fourstardave at Saratoga on Aug. 11.
Nice to see Jerkens in the winner's circle following heart surgery on Monday.
The Australian-based Sarrasin was last all the way around the course.
