All good things usually come to an end, and Pink Lloyd's 11-race win streak in local stakes did just that in the $100K Shepperton. The reigning Canadian Horse of the Year weakened in the final sixteenth after participating in a speed duel with Boreal Spirit, as Kingsport rallied strongly to prevail by daylight. A stalking Jacks Escarpment edged out the 1-20 favorite for second in the five-horse field.

With Patrick Husbands riding for trainer Sid Attard, Kingsport paid a generous $39, in a race he won two years ago. There was no place or show wagering.

Leading rider Rafael Hernandez won three of the first four events on the 11-race card. David Moran doubled up on longshot Get Explicit and the fast-working first-timer Walkabout Creek, a 3yo Mike Doyle charge with a future.

Moksgmol nosed out the favored Einstein's Babe in a five-furlong maiden special for 2yos. With Sheena Ryan aboard, she became the third debut winner from as many starters for obscure Ontario sire Cold Harbor.

The handle was nearly $5.3 million.
