Jockey David Cohen, who has enjoyed a renaissiance of sorts this year, was taken off his mounts on Thursday at Belmont Park because his license was refused by the New York State Gaming Commission for failure to meet licensing requirements, according to state steward Steve Lewandowski.
Still endeavoring to find out exactly what this means and for how long Cohen might be out of action.
Cohen was listed to ride four mounts at Belmont on Thursday -- a fifth mount was scratched.
Cohen was tied for 8th in the Belmont Park standings with 27 wins from 208 mounts, this in his first season back here in four years. This winter, at Oaklawn Park, Cohen finished third in the standings with 37 win sfrom 260 mounts.
