LEG A - Delaware R8 - Kent Stakes
Two mains and two backups for me here:
- I think GOLDEN BROWN (6) is very live here; a good second in first turf start going two-turns for the first time in a stake @ Monmouth most recently, and the horse that defeated him by a 1/2 length was older graded stakes winner Irish Strait
- CARRICK (1) has looked good in both of his starts in New York, and I love the stalking gear he brings to the table
- Backups will be the favorite, UNTAMED DOMAIN (5), and HOT SPRINGS (2) for Asmussen
LEG B - Belmont R8
Three mains and a backup:
- MALIBU STACY (1) brings honest speed to the race and should work out a good trip inside
- Both JC'S SHOOTING STAR (2) and EPPING FOREST (9) will be coming from off the pace, but both were victorious in their most recent starts and make plenty of sense here
- The only backup for me will be one of the longest shots in the race, BOOS (3)
LEG C - Delaware R9 - Delaware Handicap
Two mains:
- ELATE (6) is obviously the horse to beat, but going ten-furlongs off the bench is no walk in the park; her "B" effort is likely enough to get through, but I'm not confident enough to single her here
- TERESA Z (1) is the horse I like most as an alternative; she's coming into this race on the heels of a victory in the local prep and the distance shouldn't be an issue for her
LEG D - Belmont R9 - Forbidden Apple
Two mains and a backup in the final leg:
- I've always loved MR HAVERCAMP (1), and he may be sitting on a career best effort this afternoon; he should appreciate the pace scenario that's likely to present itself
- DISCO PARTNER (2) is strictly the horse to beat; his versatility is key and he's coming into this race in great form, winning the Jaipur most recently with a 105 Beyer
- The lone backup for me here is VOODOO SONG (4), who ran extremely well in his most recent start
