Tail-swishing favorite Ascender ($5.20) wins to kick off pick-6

Ascender, with her tail swishing through the lane under John Velazquez, took this maiden turf event for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies to kick off the mandatory payout pick-6. Ascender won as the 8-5 favorite, returning $5.20.

There was $176,561 wagered in the pick-6 pool.
