Kentan Road, the longest shot in a field of 12, scored what is likely to be the upset of the summer meeting with a 74-1 victory in an allowance race with a $40,000 claiming option in Sunday's fourth race.
Kentan Road ($150) held off a late run from 7-2 Tonahutu to win the five-furlong turf race by a half-length. Kentan Road attracted $3,459 to win. The 4-year-old filly won the first leg of a pick six that drew a pool of $150,120.
Two weeks ago, Kentan Road finished fourth in a starter allowance at Los Alamitos as the 6-5 favorite on a blisteringly hot day. Kentan Road was in the second race on July 6. The remainder of the races were cancelled that day.
The filly won a maiden special weight race at Los Alamitos last December in her only previous win in 11 starts.
