Bombard (14) will start in a stakes at a mile for the first time in Sunday's Wickerr Stakes on turf.

The 5-year-old gelding drew the outside post in a field 12, which may not be a detriment. Trained by Richard Mandella, Bombard won consecutive starts on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita in May and June as a stalker, including the Siren Lure Stakes on June 17.

Bombard figures to be near the front here and should have enough tactical speed to be a factor early for jockey Flavien Prat.

The 8-1 price with 22 minutes to post is attractive, too.
