Ruby Notion, fourth at 8-1 in the Caress Stakes last year, pulled off a 27-1 upset in the $200,000 Caress on Monday, rallying three-wide under Florent Geroux and beating 11-1 Chanteline by two lengths. It was 4 3-4 lengths back to Just Talkin, who stumbled at the start.
The race was run over a soggy turf course labeled soft after rain hit the area on Monday morning and intermittent showers came through the afternoon. This was the only one of five scheduled turf races run on the card.
Tillie's Lily was scratched due to illness. Faypien scratched to run in Wednesday's Grade 2 Honorable Miss.
The winner, a West Virginia bred daughter of Great Notion, is trained by Darrin Miller for Silverton Hill Farm.
