Trainer Tom Amoss confirmed via text Monday evening to David Grening of Daily Racing Form that he will be sending Lone Sailor to the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park this Sunday. Amoss had been debating between the Grade 2 Jim Dandy and the Haskell.

Lone Sailor is coming off a strong effort in the Grade 3, $500,000 Ohio Derby at Thistledown. Lone Sailor broke slowly in the 1 1/8-mile Ohio Derby, then knifed between horses in the upper stretch. He and Core Beliefs battled through the final furlong with Core Beliefs coming out on top in a very close photo finish.

Core Beliefs is scheduled to ship from California for the Haskell on Tuesday.

Although Lone Sailor is one for 11 in his career, he finished second by a neck to Noble Indy in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby in late March and finished fifth, beaten only two lengths, by Justify under tring sloppy and foggy conditions in the Preakness.

The Haskell probables also include Good Magic, the 2017 champion male 2-year-old, Preakness runner-up Bravazo, Long Branch winner Navy Commander, and Pegasus runner-up Roaming Union.

The connections of several would-be longshots also are contemplating the Haskell.

The 1 1/8-mile Haskell is part of the Breeders Cup Challenge Series and a Win and You're In for the Classic. Post positions for the Haskell will be drawn Thursday.

The Haskell will be televised on NBC from 5-6 p.m. on Sunday.

There are five stakes, four of which are graded, on the Haskell undercard.
